Governance & Language Council
Authority comes from people — native speakers, elders, teachers, linguists, and editors
Community proposals remain open on the interactive hub. Accepted forms follow a documented review path. Swifin acknowledges SIL/Webonary’s substantial published lexicon, Hedinger’s grammar and related literature, Glottolog catalogues, and community Bakossi cultural resources.
Review statuses
- Native verified — approved by identified native speakers / council process.
- Editorial verified — Swifin editorial or curated seed acceptance.
- Source attested — attested in an external published source (attribution retained).
- Engine inferred — heuristic or AI-assisted; never visually equivalent to verified entries.
Provenance
Every dictionary sense should record whether it originated from SIL/Webonary seed import, community submission, elder interview, or Swifin editorial work. Attribution strengthens authority.
Citations
Lexicon senses use persistent identifiers of the form SALEX:0000000. Example citation: Swifin Akoose Lexicon, SALEX:0001842, version 2026.08.
Council (forming)
This page will publicly list native speakers, elders, language teachers, linguists, and editors who govern terminology. Until the council roster is published, treat editorial_verified and source_attested as provisional relative to native review.
